Main Menu JavaScript If you think the only distinction between "Java" and "JavaScript" is the extra few characters JavaScript has over its seemingly identical cousin, you've in for a shock. Besides their similar names, Java and JavaScript in every other respect are like apples and oranges. Java is a full blown programming language, similar to C or C++, and can be run on virtually any platform/environment. JavaScript, on the other hand, is script based, does not need compilation prior to execution, and can only be run in the browser. If you're looking for applications such as rollover effects, pop up windows, scrolling status etc, you'll most likely to find them written in JavaScript. Its a great language for enhancing a web document- but only a web document! Resources on JavaScript
